Whether I am aware of it or not I want to be right most of the time and that would make you wrong. There is a feeling of ego power in asserting rightness about a certain point of view. There is no need to listen to opposing arguments. In fact opposing arguments are considered a waste of time by your ego because it already has decided you are right.

What is the price you pay for taking this position?

Any information that might be useful is lost.

You are isolated from the person you are with because now there is a fence between you.

The connection you might have had when you started is lost by taking a stand for your position.

Isn’t the ego a smart little thing?

It can get us into situations that historically may have served us and now isolate us.

It is better, I think, to open our hearts to listen to the other person and in the process add dimension and make our life richer.
